betty Jo Currie

When Betty Jo Currie entered the travel business in 1994, her desire was to identify the most exotic locales in the world - and then help people reach them.

A Kenyan safari for her family in 1995 changed her world, and she determined to make "luxury, adventure, exotic travel" her tagline and the root of her business. Africa was her first experience observing the transformation that occurs when curious travelers meet often different cultures in far away destinations – the common interests, the shared needs (to protect family, to grow in knowledge), the potential for change (for both traveler and local). Her experiences have cemented her conviction that globally we are far more alike than different.

Her journeys to all corners of Africa, as well as repeated travel to iconic destinations like India, Croatia, Chile, Argentina, Cambodia, Bhutan, Peru, the Middle East, Europe, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia (the list goes on) have given her intimate knowledge, and her close relationships with on-sites and partners in country make it possible for her clients to visit deeply, explore with guides, and leave their dollars in the hands of locals.

Betty Jo arranges travel for her friends and clients, working primarily with on-sites and focusing on fair pricing, emerging properties and places, and conservation of culture and animals. Betty Jo's personal mission is to encourage and support destinations and companies which offer life changing experiences and long term tourism models for education and employment.

She works with an eye toward the best outcome for all those involved, from the tips for staff to the philanthropic gifts that can result when clients are extraordinarily moved by the places they've been and the people they've met.
